It is the 2nd week of school for most of us here at Grace and things are going very well! We have older/younger “buddies” for chapel and other activities where some extra help is needed. The routines and schedules are getting worked out and we are settling into the school year. Thank you for your prayers for us as we endeavor to make this a teriffic school year! 

       We have several opportunties to help fundraise for our school. The flyer I sent home today will give you all the details of how you can help! Preschool parents, you will receive the flyer on Tuesday. Thanks for your help eveyone!   

       Next week we will begin our afternoon activites! Show & Tell for K-3 is on Mondays (Preschool Show & Tell will be on Thursdays), History in is Tuesdays, Science is on Wednesdays, Phys. Ed. is on Thursdays, and Art is on Fridays. 

       Mrs. Hansen is going to be working on the SignUp Genius app this week so you may get emails or text messages about that. We hope to have all of the nessessary volunteer oportunities available to you as soon as possible! Thank you for your patience as we work on these apps.  

       If anyone is available to wait for the bus students to arrive in the mornings, please let us know. We have a volunteer for Tues.-Thurs. but we could use a helper on Mon. and Fri., as well a back-up or two. All you have to do is drive over to the gate and wait until they get off the bus to make sure they walk over to the building safely. The bus has been arriving between 7:49 and 7:55, so it only requires you to wait maybe 10 minutes. Thanks!

Mrs. Karen's Class Notes

       We welcomed the preschoolers this week and they are adjusting to the rules and routines of being at school! They had fun playing, coloring, watercolor painting over their names, and going to their first Chapel time with Pastor Malm.  The kindergarteners have had a great week!  In Phonics, we are reviewing letters Ii and Uu and learning letter Ee.  In Math, we are learning numbers 1-10 and how to write number 1.  In language, we worked on the concepts top/middle/bottom and above/below.  We continue to recite the our poem, The Little Turtle, and some have it memorized!  Our Bible story was God Created the World.  God is oh so good!!

Mrs. Hansen's Class Notes

      I rushed into the spelling routine too quickly, as I said in the memo I sent home, so we have the same words for next week as we did this week. We have begun practicing them at school and I trust that you are working on them at home as well. 

      Here are the spelling words for next week. 

• The 1st Grade words are: man, ran, sun, bus, hot, net, sit, cub, a, and the which mostly teach the 1 vowel rule: when there is 1 vowel in a word, it usually says the short sound. 
• The 2nd Grade words are: ten, zip, job, left, land, next, jump, name, heat, nine, soap, wave, and, you, and Iwhich mostly practice the 1 vowel and the 2 vowel rules. 
• The 3rd Grade words are: praise, braid, faith, airplane, stairway, today, daydream, maybe, backpack, homework, bookshelf, notebook, lunchbox, spelling, August, September, and October which practice that ai is usually used in the middle of a word and ay is usually used at the end of a word. They also have compound words and seasonal words. 

       In Bible class we have been learning about Creation, Adam & Eve, and the Flood. We talked about how God loves us and wants us to fellowship with Him, but sin gets in the way. We also talked about how important it is to ask Him to forgive us, so that we can be like a watered garden and have his continual guidance like in Isaiah. 58:11. Next week I will begin our weekly Bible memory verse.

• Sept. tuition (K-3/4: $200, 4 Preschool: $150, 3 Preschool: $100) is due on Sept. 10th.

• The curriculum book fee is due on Wednesday, Sept. 30. You may send in the payment at any time. The 2- day preschool book fee is $100, the 3-day fee $125, and the grade school fee is $250.
